Regenerative Treatments

Regenerative treatments – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ekrem Civas – AnkaraRegeneratifve Treatments

Stem cell treatments take place at the beginning of regenerative treatment applications. Regenerative medicine encompasses innovative treatments that allow the body to repair or regenerate aging cells, tissues and organs. The skin is an easier organ for the application of regenerative treatments due to its easy accessibility compared to other organs.

Autologous stem cells, adipose stem cells and plasma-rich stem cells (PRP) are among the current methods. Regenerative treatments and antiaging applications are used in reducing scars and hair loss treatments.

Stem cell therapy and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, which are among these treatments; are effective in reducing the appearance of scars, reducing the effects of aging and in the treatment of alopecia disease.

In this treatment; progenitor cells, multipotent stem cells and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) are used.

Multipotent Stem Cell, is obtained from bone marrow, umbilical cord, adipose tissue, dermis or hair follicle protrusion. Stem cells obtained from these sources are first processed outside the body and reintroduced to the recipient site.

Stem cells produced from adipose tissue help to maintain volume as well as skin regeneration. It is used for purposes such as midface shaping, lip volume, facial rejuvenation, facial scars, lipodystrophy, penis enlargement and vagina shaping.

The skin is another source of autologous stem cells. Dermal fibroblasts are also known to have multipotent potential. After these dermal fibroblasts are taken from one area of the skin using a punch biopsy, they go through various processes and are re-injected into another desired area of the skin. Autologous human fibroblasts are effective in the treatment of wrinkles and acne scars.

In adults, hair follicles contain an area known as the Bulge, which is rich in epithelial and melanocytic stem cells. Bulge stem cells have the ability to reproduce the interphrolicular epidermis, hair follicle structures and sebaceous glands.

Stem cells is used in the treatment of male androgenetic alopecia and female pattern hair loss. Melanocytic stem cells obtained from Bulge stem cells are used in the treatment of hair whitening and vitiligo.

Regenerative treatments show strong promise in both skin and other organ treatments.
