Laser hair removal treatment is used to reduce unwanted hairs. Common treatment sites include legs, armpits, upper lip, chin and bikini area. It is possible to treat unwanted hair by laser epilation in almost any area except the eyelid or surrounding area.
Hair color and skin type affect the success rate of laser epilation treatment. The basic principle in laser hair removal is that the skin pigment must be protected at the same time as it is completely absorbed by the dark pigment that gives the color of the laser energy to the hair. Therefore, the contrast between hair and skin color (dark hair and light skin) provides the best result.
There is little risk of skin damage if there is little contrast between hair and skin color, but advances in laser technology have also become an option for people with darker skin.
